Sustainability in your Everyday

Sustainability in your Everyday

Happy Earth Day! While reflecting on my journey of moving towards sustainability within my everyday life, I thought I'd share the products I have discovered (and been loving) this far. Shopping sustainable is a learning process — from recognizing greenwashing*, to finding what products suites your lifestyle best.

*Greenwashing —considered an unsubstantiated claim to deceive consumers into believing that a company's products are environmentally friendly.

One example of greenwashing is from 2021, when the Changing Markets Foundation found that 96% of H&M's sustainable fashion claims were misleading. Yikes...

With that being said, I took some heavy lifting out of your transition to a sustainable life by sharing my favorite items on the market.

Let's start with beauty:

Bamboo Cotton Rounds

Bamboo Cotton Rounds

I use these bamboo cotton rounds daily. For removing makeup, removing nail polish, applying skincare (toners + serums), and anything else I can think of. They're super easy to maintain - just throw them in their bag and throw them in the wash. I wash them with a plant-based detergent to prevent any added chemicals from fabric softeners, etc.

Next up,

The Makeup Eraser

makeup eraser

This one's a classic, and though it may not be news to you, we can all agree it's a staple. Paired with a good makeup melting balm, you'll take a full face of makeup off quickly + effortlessly. I wash mine about once a week, with plant-based detergent.

Biodegradable Cotton Swabs

They're biodegradable and pink... What more could a girl want? I'm obsessed, these are everything. No explanation needed — you know the drill.

Transitioning into home...

Dryer wool balls

Instead of using a dryer sheet every time you do laundry, try wool dryer balls. They're super convenient — you never have to take them out of the dryer.

I am not anywhere near where I would like to be with sustainability in my everyday life. However, I am learning and I will continue to share my favorite sustainable swaps. I have considered selling these products at Beloved, so if that is something you're interested in, let me know!
